I know what countries "third world " are , but what are first and second world countries???

First world are rich, industrialized, countries like those in the original G7, 2nd world are the former communist countries of eastern Europe. Nowadays, we usually use the term developed world and developing world or emerging markets.

First world usually means capitalist countries, namely the US and Western European countries, Australia, Japan, South Africa, New Zealand and in some opinions, South Korea.

Second world refers to communists countries and the former Soviet Union.

Third world refers to coutries with low economic and human development, usually determined by the UN.

Fourth world peoples are refugees and native peoples.



First, Second and Third world were all put into use during WWII and the Cold War. They aren't used as much anymore because circumstances have changed quite a bit.

First World would be like the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, France. They are generally industrialized allies of the USA after WWII. The Second World referred to nations that were allied with the Soviet Union.
