No, I'm only 15 and a year ago, i was just like you. I since then have moved on from my hippie year, but still listen to the greatest band ever (The Beatles). Check out project venus and the 9/11 conspiracy theories too : D. Enjoy the flower power year(s) while they last, cause you'll get over it soon.

No, I think it's wonderful that your are exposing yourself to a film like this at such a young age. I've watched both films and listened to numerous interviews with Peter Joseph, the director. I believe both Zeitgeist and Zeitgeist: Addendum are very significant and relevant to our lives and the choices we make. However, the interviews give a better and more candid interpretation of what Joseph really advocates. I would highly suggest searching for those on the internet as well as other interviews with Jacque Fresco, the architect of the Venus Project.

The key is not to take everything you see in the film as the absolute truth, even Peter Joseph encourages this. What is important is to learn to think critically for yourself. Question the information given to you, especially by established institutions which might be protecting a current belief (religion, government, etc.).

The two and most fundamental underlying themes in Zeitgeist: Addendum ask the viewer to think about the truths regarding our existence. They are: 1) the emergent nature of reality, and 2) the symbiotic relationship of life.

I believe this is the most important thing to take away from the film, and it has entirely curved my way of thinking. I question more often and I'm always open to new ideas. Meeting different types of people intrigues me more than ever before, because I feel that I can learn from them and hopefully understand more about life.

So keep it up and don't get discouraged if people put you down for being critical. Learn to listen, learn to love, but most of all...just learn. :)

I was fortunate to attend the premiere of zeitgeist addendum yesterday night, and all i can say that it was mind-blowing. as expected, the information that was conveyed to the audience was explosive and intriguing at the same time. The film starts with the first part explaining the concept of the modern day banking scheme: the fractional reserve banking. This is a system that creates for every real dollar that is deposited x-amount of virtual dollars, which the bank then uses to lend over and over again. The system is based entirely on fraud and money is only created through debt (issue of loans). This concept is very critical as it gives insight to the financial disaster that we're experiencing. This is a system that enslaves people through inflation and interest rates, for that they're is never enough money in circulation to pay off the debt (interest). The second part explains how economic warfare is waged against foreign countries that don't sell off their resources and allow the multi-national corporations to privatize foreign economies. The movie gives insight from a former economic hitman who explains the procedure in which the US, world bank and IMF go about pursuing their corporate agendas. The third part illustrates who really runs the show on this beautiful planet: profit hungry and conscienceless corporations. the movie points out that the reason why there is so much suffering on this planet is because of the pursuit of profits. the filmmaker insist that as long as we have a monetary system and profit as our priorities there will never be equality and peace because this only promotes competition and selfishness without any intentions of the well being of the entire human species, the flora, fauna, and entire universe. The fourth part offers the solution and this is a really interesting one: technology. they present technology in a very fascinating light, as a savior of life. The movie states that there are enough resources and that we have the technology today to provide food, shelter, energy and everything else from everybody on this planet. the problem lies in ownership and distribution of those essential resources. resources should owned by the entire human species and with the help of technology we should be freed from this artificial system of enslavement that forces us to compete for money and resources. technology should thus free us and allow us to become creators instead of competitors. there should be now laws because laws wont be needed when we dont need to fight to survive. there should be no money because there are no profit incentives. After the screening there was a Q&A in which the filmmaker and the leaders of the venus project provided further insight. they stated that this is not a communist system because, there is no military, no money, and no laws involved. i understand that this is a very utopian goal, but it is definitely better to work towards this kind of society than what we are dealing with right now. We need to wake up and break through this systemic illusion that tries to suppress people. It's time to spread the information and to have an impact on society by living change and not hoping for it. i believe that there is an infinite consciousness that connects everything and that's why we have and always will progess! One love!

You are very smart for a 14 year old. I think it is cool that your looking into world issues and conspiracy theories and what it all boils down to is.. It makes you think.. Which far too many people no longer like to do.

The Zeitgeist movies are flights into conspiracy fantasyland.

I consider them to be an intellectually dishonest documentary, not because of the filmmakers personal bias, but because of its disregard for the truth. There is so much questionable statements that can easily be refuted, or controversial points that have legitimate opposing views that should have been presented.

- Regarding part 1: Jesus

The "Mythology of Jesus" theory was an obscure and generally dismissed theory.

It has gained exposure due to author "Acharya S" and her collaboration with the Zeitgeist filmmaker. (She is also author of the films companion guide). But even the casual but astute viewer will find considerable silliness in the some of the conjectures where practically any numerical or astrological connection 'proves' mytholical derision. Son=sun? Three stars in Orions belt = three kings? Virgo = Mary because the astrological sign sort of looks like an M? Who buys this stuff?

Some other views:

" The idea of Jesus as a myth is rejected by the majority of biblical scholars and historians. In 2004, Richard Burridge and Graham Gould stated that they did not know of any "respectable" scholars that held the view today. Robert E. Van Voorst has stated that biblical scholars and historians regard the thesis as "effectively refuted"."

- Regarding Part II: 9/11

It should be noted upfront that being skeptical of the 'official version' of anything presented by the government or media, is a good thing for society. And it should also be noted that questioners of 9/11 'offical versions' range from genuine intellectual pursuits of greater truths, to bizarre interpretations specifically intended to support a unwavering point of view.

The Zeitgeist filmmaker is part of that spectrum that has bought into the theory that the government orchestrated the whole thing. Unfortunately the evidence they selected and presented was sloppy and much of it easily disproved, even by members of the Truth movement. (I've heard some speculate this may have been a red-herring to discredit the 'truth' movement).

For a point by point analysis, see http://www.conspiracyscience.com/articles/zeitgeist/part-two/

- Regarding Part III: Men behind the curtain

As a liberatarian, I found this part to have had the most potential in exposing abuses of government and men in power. Instead, it trots out tired long disproven conspiracy theories.

"Income Tax law Doesn't exist" theory - Very stale. Consistently disproven over-and-over again. No new information, just new victims going to jail that fall for these arguments. Very sad.

"Federal Reserve System is owned by international bankers" - Still a common conspiracy theory. Still wrong. The Federal Reserve System, is headed by the Board of Governors, a Government Agency (look it up - http://www.whitehouse.gov/government/independent-agencies.html ). The Federal Reserve branches can definitely be considered tightly regulated corporations owned by their member banks, all of which must be American-owned by law. It is receives regular audits, and is overseen by congress.

Other views:

"There is no shortage of information which refutes this viewpoint. But this type of conspiracy relies on two elements common to web surfers: First, they're only willing to check facts at the most superficial level, which usually means they'll read a message or watch a clip just once before forming an opinion and moving on. "...(a) common problem in the film: presenting something in such a shallow manner without further corroboration or scholarly evidence." - Ref:

http://gauntlet.ucalgary.ca/story/12284

There are those who defend the film because they believe that agenda+motive is more important than truth. There is a certain irony here since the films overarching thesis is to be wary of those who would obfuscate the truth in an attempt to persuade others to their point of view.

The world is full of disinformation. Learn to be a skeptic at a young age and you're less likely to be disappointed and deceived in the future.
