Which is the reason whereby Jews are over-represented in almost every intellectual and political current ?

This is a very controversial issue. Some researchers say the Jews have a higher IQ on average. Others say that there is a sociological reason for why Jews are so over-represented: since they were prosecuted so much in the early days and had to survive, they made sure that they were apt in whatever they did. Also, the European Jews chose professions that had to do with trade, money, healthcare, and science...so that if they are prosecuted and have to leave the country they are in, they would be able to continue in the profession elsewhere.

In addition to that, Jewish families are know to have a great value towards education and intellectual ability, again, a tradition that could have been a result of prosecution and the making sure that Jewish people survive.

Intense focus on education leads to success. Also, they've never totally assimilated into the dominant culture, the way many other immigrant groups have, thus maintaining higher standards for themselves. Not too shabby for a group who represents barely 2% of the U.S. population!
