i recently took a simon baron-cohen empathy quotient test. i scored a 27 on the test. 80 was the maxium.the scoring chart said:
0 - 32 = low (most people with Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism score about 20)
33 - 52 = average (most women score about 47 and most men score about 42)
53 - 63 is above average
64 - 80 is very high
80 is maximum
i scored a 27 in the 0-32 range which is low, but i know i DO NOT have aspergers or any type of autism. my only problem is i don't know exactly what empathy means. i answered all the questions on the quiz (60 questions) truthfully. i looked up the word empathy in the dictionary but i didn't understand it. and i want to know if its bad to have low empathy and if im a bad person.
im 15 and female if that matters

Empathy means you can feel another persons grief, you can feel another persons desolation.

Empathy comes from having had the same experience the other person is going through now. For instance, if you grieved when you lost a beloved pet, you can have empathy with a firiend who loses their beloved pet. You know how they feel because you've felt it.

15 is very young to have lived through many such life-changing emotional experiences. I would bet you've never lost a parent, spouse, sibling or child. You've probably never lived through poverty or near starvation, rape, incest, or sexual abuse, never been through war, never been beaten, or robbed, or had your house burn down, or been in financial ruin, or arrested or jailed, or suffered with terminal disease or unrequited love.

You are not a bad person, you're a young, naive, innocent person, that's all. If you lack empathy it's because you lack life experience. May you stay that way always.

Empathy is being compassionate to other humans (or animals) and there issues and how matters are for them the intent the bottom raitings cominly persons with aspergers is since they wrestle to understand how matters are for different individuals like they could say anything for instance about someone's weight and now not are aware of it had offended that individual or no longer realize the way it would offend that individual but persons who just have low phases of empathy that shouldn't have something like aspergers are men and women who are fairly self centred and regularly care less or feel much less about other people and serving to them and so on

I would not worry too much about it because everyone has a low empathy moment sometimes. Empathy is simply the ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes. For example, you may know someone who loss a loved one.

You are empathizing once you express your condolences.

The reason I say everyone does it every now and then. When we ask how someone is doing, we do not want to really hear how they are doing.

to have empathy is to care about other people, or be able to see where they are coming from. Try putting yourself into other ppls' position more and it may help.
